A.K. Blake is a speculative fiction writer who enjoys commenting on human nature through aliens, robots, and mythical beings. She is querying a quippy, far-future adult sci-fi novel, Mechanical Vice, which is narrated by an AI who just wants a body.
Born in Kansas City and raised in the Ozark Mountains, A.K. Blake escaped the U.S. to teach ESL in South Korea and serve as a Peace Corps volunteer in rural Mexico. In each new place, she found a slightly different version of herself waiting to bloom. Now in DC, she manages AI language model and dark web application development for the U.S. government by day. By night, she writes snarky robot stories and struggles to walk her 40-lb mutt.
She holds an MA in Writing from Johns Hopkins.

The Many Dimensions of You
“This you lives in a rundown clapboard house, hanging out the window to wave at men who pass by. You're thinner in this world, cheekbones casting shadows across your face. Your collarbones push out like they're trying to escape your skin. It suits you, in a waifish kind of way.”
The Grand Marriott Hotel ♒︎⧫♏●
“❍♋■ arrived through the portal with indigestion as usual. Something about all the spinny lights and not-fully-existing-while-existing-in-all-dimensions always gave him heartburn. He burped immediately upon stepping into the lobby, the gas congealing into a large bubble and floating toward the ceiling, only to pop on the glittering chandelier.”
Save the Lamprey
“A few crop circles and funny lights in the sky is hardly a legitimate attempt! That Janet woman you messaged thought you were a hoax!"
“Her MySpace profile said ‘Alien Ambassador.’”
